Backup power and
hybrid operation
Declaring a second power source, then checking what the study adds to the equipment and to the diagram.
When is a backup source declared?
The option is ticked at step 6 when a grid connection or a generator must be able to supply the pump. The option asks for neither brand nor power: LE LAB selects a compatible solution and states the resulting architecture in the diagram.
What the selection changes
- Addition of the cabinet or of the pairing device suited to the range.
- Exclusion of pumps that cannot run with a second source.
- Addition of the backup source and of its description in the diagram.

Reading the diagram
The legend states the type of operation selected for the solution:
- Automatic switchover: one source supplies the pump at a time.
- Automatic blending: both sources can contribute at the same time.
The behaviour depends on the pump and on the control equipment selected. It cannot be deduced from the presence of the backup source alone.

Generator power
When a minimum power is published, it appears in the backup line of the diagram. In constant pressure, it is also repeated in a tile and may be qualified “at continuous load”.
The exact wording of the study is the one to keep. A value in kW is not directly comparable with a commercial rating plate expressed in kVA without checking the characteristics of the generator.
